Founded in 1997, the Global Aquaculture Alliance is an international non-governmental organization dedicated to advocacy, education and leadership in responsible aquaculture.

We uphold and engage stakeholders worldwide who are dedicated to advancing environmentally and socially responsible aquaculture practices. Through the development of our Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification standards, GAA has become the leading standards-setting organization for farmed seafood, with more than 2,000 BAP-certified seafood processing plants, farms, hatcheries and feed mills worldwide. BAP is the world’s most comprehensive third-party aquaculture certification program, with standards encompassing environmental responsibility, social responsibility, food safety, animal health and welfare, and traceability. In addition to BAP, GAA is involved in various pre-competitive activities in advocacy and education, including its Global Aquaculture Advocate news website, annual GOAL conference, MyGAA online community, GAA Films, Global Aquaculture Academy e-learning platform and GAA membership.
