Western Australia Premier Roger Cook has unveiled his new cabinet, which features a number of changes, including a new Minister for Fisheries.
Jackie Jarvis MLC has been named Minister for Agriculture and Food; Fisheries; Forestry and Small Business. The change sees fisheries join other primary industries under a single minister, which is more closely aligned with Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development responsibilities.
Cook said team the new cabinet would never stop working to deliver for the people of Western Australia.
“We have a bold vision for the future our state – a future that is made in WA. The portfolios allocated to my new cabinet align with that vision, and they align with further changes to the operation of government that we will announce in the weeks ahead,” he said.
Western Australian Fishing Industry Council (WAFIC) Chief Executive Officer Melissa Haslam said she looks forward to working with the new minister and discussing the development of a new Ocean Planning Policy for Western Australia.
