The Western Australia Fishing Industry Council (WAFIC) has welcomed Melissa Haslam into the role of Chief Executive Officer. Haslam joins WAFIC following 10 years as Executive Director at Forest Industries Federation (WA) where she oversaw stages of industry sector restructure.

Haslam brings with her extensive professional experience in association management and industry advocacy as well as a tertiary background in resource management, sustainable development, communications and business. She has a passion for renewable and sustainable industries.
“I am excited to join the WAFIC team, and I am very much looking forward to meeting the commercial fishers and hearing first-hand the challenges facing their respective sectors. I wish to ensure WAFIC is an efficient and effective organisation delivering against core values for maximum membership benefit,” she said.
Haslam intends to meet with WAFIC fisheries members and key industry stakeholders as soon as possible.
