India is making significant progress toward securing global Marine Stewardship Council certification for 10 of its marine fisheries, with the first expected to apply for full certification in 2026

The fisheries include key species such as shrimp, squid, cuttlefish and octopus.

Global certification is expected to significantly boost India’s seafood exports.
