The European Commission’s recently unveiled proposal for the 2028–2034 Multiannual Financial Framework has drawn sharp criticism from Europêche, the leading body representing Europe’s fishing industry

At the centre of the controversy is the Commission’s plan to merge the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund with several other programmes.

Europêche warns that this move dilutes the strategic importance of fisheries.
