As coastal states convene to discuss quotas, the EU fishing industry is urging all parties to agree on a long-overdue comprehensive sharing arrangement for mackerel stock

The industry warns that without a fair and sustainable agreement, the most valuable EU pelagic fishery risks collapse.

The industry also expresses frustration over calls by some environmental NGOs and EU retailers to stop selling and buying mackerel, despite the EU being the only party still adhering to scientific catch limits.
