The EU Social Partners have launched a new digital hub aimed at strengthening collaboration and improving working conditions for workers in the fisheries sector.

Developed under the Sea Fisheries Social Dialogue Committee, the platform will be a central point for sharing tools, policy developments and best practices across Europe’s fishing industry.

EU fisheries social partners have launched a new digital hub

It includes guidelines on medical examinations, fair recruitment and training tools, offering a user-friendly way to engage with evolving issues.

“We often see how lack of access to clear information can cause parties to get stuck in developments,” said Cor Blonk, chair of the Sea Fisheries Social Dialogue Committee.

“This platform is more than just a digital space, it’s a living tool that gives access to useful material and helps improve the social dimension of fisheries.”

The platform also demonstrates the Committee’s influence beyond Europe. Guidelines developed by the social partners have been adopted internationally, including by the ILO and IMO, with the Fair Recruitment Guidelines set to inform the ILO’s 2025 Tripartite Meeting of Experts.

“Social dialogue is more than just dialogue, it’s about delivering meaningful impact on the ground,” said Juan Manuel Trujillo, workers’ spokesperson. “This platform reflects our impact and opens new ways to share knowledge, tools, and ideas with the fishing community.”

With features including access to core tools, project outcomes and real-time updates, the hub is designed to grow over time.
