A two day conference designed to update delegates on the latest developments in fish and seafood products has recently been announced by organisers CCFRA, Seafish, Norconserv and the Norwegian Seafood Association.
The event will focus on post-catch and post-harvest issues facing the seafood industry, with eminent speakers from throughout Europe providing presentations on all aspects of processing, preservation and packaging.
The conference programme will address:
Markets and trends – ‘the future’
Addressing the opportunities for growth in the fish and seafood sector, and the opportunities and challenges facing manufacturers and retailers.
Processing technologies
The influence on processing of grading schemes, catching and storage methods, the merits and limitations of current processing technologies with options for the future including, high pressure processing, state-of-the-art smoking (hot/cold) and the effects of 'superchilling' on fresh fish storage quality.
Quality measurement and the consumer
Chilling and freezing control throughout the chain and an overview of quality measurement and assessment approaches. Fish as a functional food and seafood traceability to ensure consumer confidence.
Product and packaging innovation
The opportunities and challenges for the sector including farmed fish and aquaculture, and the importance of packaging in shelf-life from the European perspective.
The conference will be held on 22-23 March 2007 at Campden and Chorleywood Food Research Association (CCFRA).
