Dave Rudie Founder of Catalina Offshore Products is confirmed as a speaker at the 7th Offshore Mariculture Conference. Soon to be held in Ensenada, Baja California on the 6-10 March 2017.

Founded in 1977 Catalina Offshore Products started exclusively as a sea urchin wholesaler, growing to become one of the largest buyers of local seafood in San Diego today. The company specialises in wild species found off the West Coast, from Baja California to the Pacific Northwest, selling through wholesale division, an online store and a walk-in fish market.
In addition to overseeing his business operation, Dave contributes his expertise to numerous initiatives. He is President of both the California Fisheries & Seafood Institute and the California Pelagic Fisheries Association; Vice President of the San Diego Oceans Foundation; board member of The Maritime Alliance; and a longstanding voice on the California Sea Urchin Commission.
In 2015, Catalina Offshore Products was recognised as Food Processor of the Year by the Food Industry Business Roundtable (FIBR) as well as Dave also receiving The Maritime Alliance’s Community Leadership Award for his dedication to promoting sustainable, science-based ocean industries, national and international outreach, and workforce development.
Mr Rudie will be speaking during session four of the conference, his presentation will cover ‘Marketing Aquaculture: Successes, Challenges and Changing Tactics’. Topics include the benefits of farmed fish over wild, challenges all aquaculture farms face, and how to catch the right customers amid a sea of competition.
