Protix, a global leader in insect-based ingredients, has named Maiko van der Meer as its new chief executive with effect from November 2025.
Van der Meer brings nearly 30 years of leadership experience from major international food and feed companies including Unilever, Mowi, Vion Food Group, Klaas Puul, Storteboom Food Group and Tyson Foods.
“With rising meat and seafood demand and the need for more sustainable food chains, I am excited to lead a company that is at the forefront of changing the food system,” said van der Meer.

As chief executive, van der Meer will guide Protix through its next phase of international growth, strengthening its position as a key supplier of high-quality insect ingredients for aquafeed, livestock feed and pet food.
