Mowi Scotland has been granted a Royal Warrant of Appointment for the supply of fresh salmon to King Charles.

The company has held the warrant since 1990 but this lapsed when Queen Elizabeth II died in 2022. A two-year grace period was then granted to allow all 620 holders of warrants to continue using the royal arms on their products.

King Charles has reissued Mowi Scotland’s warrant for the supply of fresh salmon to the royal household

In December 2024, the king granted the second set of warrants for his new reign and confirmed that Mowi would continue to hold the warrant for the supply of fresh salmon, the only company to do so.

Ben Hadfield, chief operating officer for farming in Scotland, Ireland, the Faroes and Canada East, said the company was honoured to hold the warrant. “The Royal Warrant, proudly shown through the Royal Crest on our boxes of salmon that are sold all over the world, is recognised and held in high regard globally and lends even greater provenance to the Mowi story,” he said.

The Royal Warrant of Appointment was established in the 15th century by the Lord Chamberlain.

It allows merchants who have supplied specific goods and services to the royal household for at least five years to use the royal arms in connection with their business.

Holders of the warrant are also allowed to use the royal arms on their products and packaging and to display the crest on their premises.
