Published on 30 September 2025, the assessment highlights ASC’s credibility, transparency and measurable impact in the global aquaculture sector. The evaluation comes after significant updates to Milieu Centraal’s benchmarking methodology since 2022.

It assessed ASC’s new Farm Standard, which consolidates and strengthens requirements across all certified farms. According to Milieu Centraal, ASC now stands out as the only Top Ecolabel covering environmental responsibility, social accountability and fish welfare.

“We are proud that Milieu Centraal continues to recognise ASC as a leading ecolabel. Their independent assessment confirms the robustness of our new Farm Standard and reflects our mission to drive improvements in aquaculture worldwide. It reassures consumers that ASC-certified seafood is produced with care for the environment, workers, and communities,” ASC CEO Chris Ninnes said.

Milieu Centraal conducts its ecolabel benchmarking every three years, providing a clear guide for consumers seeking credible certifications.
