Spindrift delivered to Whalsay
Icelandic GRP boat builder Trefjar has delivered a new Cleapatra Fishermen to a customer in Whalsay in Shetland.
Spindrift has been built for Allister Irvine, who also intends to skipper the new boat which is fitted out for netting and jigging, as well as having a mackerel jigging setup on board. A lifting boom has been fitted for discharging catches.
Spindrift’s midships fishroom has capacity for fifteen 380 litre tubs.
The 11gt Cleopatra 33 is powered by a 315hp Doosan L086TIM engine linked to a ZF 286IV reduction gear in the aft engine room.
The wheelhouse has been fitted out with accommodation to a high standard with three bunks in the forward section, as well as a well-equipped galley. The majority of the electronics in the wheelhouse have been delivered by Furuno, and include a Maxsea plotter. The bow thruster is also linked to the autopilot, helping keep Spindrift on track while hauling gear at low speeds.
Spindrift is expected to operate all year round, fishing from Whalsay.
