Olympic supplier MSC certified

24 Oct 2012

Simson’s Fisheries, supplier to the London 2012 Olympics, has gained MSC certification and can now supply sustainable fish to hotel groups, restaurants, pub groups, retailers, schools and hospitals.

The sustainable fish available from Simson are MSC certified Icelandic cod, South African hake, Eastern Canadian lobster, Canadian northern prawns, Icelandic haddock, New Zealand hoki and Alaskan Pollock.

“We have always endeavoured to provide sustainable fish where possible and can now strengthen this by being able to provide MSC certified sustainable fish,” Philippa Raven, sustainability advisor at Simson’s Fisheries explains. “We chose to get Marine Stewardship Council certification as – following the London 2012 Olympics – we wanted to offer certified sustainable fish to a wide range of our customers.”

The Marine Stewardship Council Chain of Custody certification confirms MSC certified seafood from Simson’s is traceable through every step of the supply chain – from the boats, to the processor, to the distributor, and then the customer.
