A sustainable cookware company has partnered with the Gulf Seafood Foundation to hep oystermen affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

A percentage of sales of The Oyster Bed’s ‘The Steak Bed’, able to withstand extreme thermal shock gas, will be given to the foundation to assist oyster fisherman struggling to recover from the damage they sustained during the storms.

The plate was launched by US-based founders of The Oyster Bed, brothers Adam and Tommy Waller. Tommy, a Marine Major reservist and executive officer at 3d Force Reconnaissance Company, said: “In the wake of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, hundreds of us reserve Marines were mobilized to help the citizens of Florida and Louisiana.

“As recent oyster seasons opened across the Gulf, a large number of oyster fishermen are still struggling to recover from the damage they sustained during the storms. We felt it imperative to find a way to help.”

The company previously launched an aluminium alloy ‘Oyster Bed’ product and has stated its “purpose is to use our innovative cookware to enable professional chefs and home cooks alike to cultivate creative cooking while simultaneously using our brand to educate our customers on the value of oysters to the world's coastal ecosystems.”
