Scottish manufacturer, Quiksling, has re-launched its eponymous twin-harness man overboard (MOB) rescue and recovery system, now with Lloyd''s type approval.
The system has been further developed, tested and improved and now has greater fire resistance, an increase in lifting capability and better casualty security.
Moreover, after a 3 year process the company has completed the testing and trialling procedures Lloyd's demands before giving a product type approval as a means of MOB recovery.
Using a unique capture system integrated within a lightweight and throwable floating frame, Quiksling was designed to ensure the casualty not only had the best possibility of rescue, but also the often trickier task of recovery to the vessel. The sling has up to 80m of helicopter rescue standard line and can be deployed as quickly as a traditional life ring and stored on deck in about the same space.
Already found on board North Sea trawlers, deep sea diving support ships, ferries and superyachts in its MK1 format, Quiksling is suitable for vessels from 20 to 200 metres and ensures compliance with SOLAS 111/17-1.
