Owners in the Dutch fishing hub of Urk have placed an order with Maaskant Shipyards in Stellendam for a new combination twin-rig trawler/fly-shooter for delivery in 2019.

Maaskant to deliver new twin-rigger/fly-shooter

Wilhelmina LT-60 is to be delivered in March 2019

The yard is already building the new Spes Nova UK-205 for another operator in Urk, and like this vessel, the new Wilhelmina LT-60 has been designed by naval architect Vripack.

The new trawler is slightly smaller than the UK-205, with an overall length of 31 metres and a 9.40 metre beam, and its hull will be built in Poland and brought to the yard in Stellendam for completion. It will operate under the UK flag.

Wilhelmina will have an ABC main engine with a Reintjes gearbox and a 3400mm fixed-pitch propeller, plus a pair of Caterpillar C18 auxiliary engines.

The new vessel’s winches for fly-shooting and twin-rig trawling are to be delivered by VCU and owners Rense and Johannes de Boer have opted for a package of electrically-driven deck equipment.

This newbuild is a replacement for the present LT-60, a 40 metre beam trawler built at Maaskant in 1991 as St Matthew.
