Shrimp fishing in Greenland and Canadian waters usually means working for four weeks at a time in the open sea and in all kinds of weather.

Under such conditions the most important thing for Per Svenningsen, Technical Manager at Ocean Prawns A/S, is that trawl and engines work without downtime.
"Clean oil is crucial, and we have decided to use CJC Fine Filters on all hydraulic oil, gear oil and the oil in the stern tube", says Per Svenningsen. "The system is simple and reliable and only requires that the Filter Inserts are changed at least once a year or when the differential pressure indicates that it is time for change", he says.
The filters in the harshest conditions are placed on the deck of the large trawlers. They clean the oil of the deck gear box for the trawl winch and must be able to operate in winter storms with temperatures of -20°C to 30°C degrees as well as on hot summer days with temperatures reaching 30°C degrees.
"Before installing the CJC Fine Filters we had problems with metal residues in the oil due to wear which increases the risk of downtime. But the last seven years we have used the filters and we have had no such problems", Mr Svenningsen explains. "The filters clean the oil of both water and solid particles and without them we would certainly have to change oil more often", he states.
According to Mr Svenningsen, the investment in CJC Fine Filters is in general paid back within 12 months.
