Blue Star Foods, currently the largest importer of high quality blue swimming pasteurised crabmeat in the US, has acquired Sigma International, a leading importer of Chinese pasteurised crabmeat.

Headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida, Sigma International is recognised throughout the food industry as red swimming crab meat import specialists. Founded in 1978, Sigma International's seafood business has evolved into high quality pasteurised refrigerated and frozen crabmeat from China and Southeast Asia.

The cash transaction became effective on 1 January 2015 and the entire staff of Sigma is being retained by Blue Star Foods. Sigma's vice president, Anita Layton will become the supply chain director for Blue Star Foods.
