The Transas Group claims to be a world-leading manufacturer of software and hardware systems for professional training and certification of sea specialists. The broad scope of Transas simulators enables training in different maritime specialties and allows training in both standard procedures and emergencies, developing professional skills and consolidating theoretical knowledge obtained.
When the Transas Group specialists realised the need and importance of skipper training in maneuvering a fishing vessel during fishing operations, the Transas NTPRO 4000 simulator was developed and completed with a Fishing Bridge module.
The Fishing Simulator incorporates software and hardware products for fishing vessel bridge equipment and inherits all of the capabilities of the Full Mission Bridge, including the imitation of situations in fishing areas; monitoring of trainee activities; active control over operations from an instructor, deck machinery models etc.
Recently, specialists of the Transas Group have amplified the fishing module of NTPRO with new features which make the Fishing Simulator a unique training instrument. New possibilities with NTPRO include: imitation of real fish-finding devices; variety of fishing gear used world-wide (different kinds of trawls and purse seines; fish finding sonar imitator; echo sounder imitator etc.); state of the art visual (including sub-water visual representation of different shoals, seabed and fishing gear as 3D objects with true colour and highly realistic texturing). In addition, advanced technologies and modern software enable the integration of the Fishing Simulator with Transas' DNV-A navigation simulator.
The use of highly realistic models of ships, ship equipment, fishing gear and fishing devices makes it possible to use simulators for improving trawling and seine-net fishing tactics.
An additional front-edge technology developed by the company is the Transas Evaluation and Assessment System (TEAS), which allows objective assessment of the exercise fulfilment correctness accomplished by a trainee on the NTPRO 4000 navigation simulator, including fishing gear operating assessment. It also enables a comparison of individual exercise performance values with other exercise results. The assessment is checked against a select set of criteria.
Transas Fishing Simulators are established in Australia, Canada, France, Japan, Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom amongst others. Transas customers comment, “The trainees who successfully complete this course will have gained experience in handling fishing ships under various conditions and in the use of fishing equipment”.
