High Liner Foods, a North American value-added frozen seafood company, is celebrating its landmark 125th anniversary this year.

In honour of the company’s deep ties to the community, the town of Lunenburg in Nova Scotia, Canada has officially declared December 12, 2024, as ’High Liner Foods Day’.

“High Liner has quite a storied history, all of which started in Lunenburg and we are deeply honoured that the community has recognised us by declaring our anniversary High Liner Foods Day,” said Paul Jewer, president & chief executive of High Liner Foods.

At the ceremony to mark the company’s founding in 1899, mayor of Lunenburg, Jamie Myra praised the company’s legacy.

“High Liner Foods has been part of Lunenburg’s story for 125 years,” he said. “From supporting our fishing fleet to supplying seafood across North America, they’ve always been connected to this community. We’re proud to honour their commitment.”

To mark the occasion, a celebratory reception was held on 23 September at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, where High Liner Foods was acknowledged by local dignitaries, including The Honourable Susan Corkum-Greek, Minister of Economic Development, and The Honourable Kent Smith, Minister of Fisheries & Aquaculture.

High Liner Foods continues to be a significant player in the North American seafood market, with products sold under various brands in stores, restaurants and food service distributors across North America.
