Omar Alfi, Managing Director at Pacifico Aquaculture is a confirmed speaker for the Offshore Mariculture Conference. Omar’s topic covers ‘The Offshore Farming Business: Investments & Considerations’ and will offer a high-level discussion on the experiences and perspectives of a former private equity investor entering the aquaculture industry.

Omar Alfi is the Managing Director of Pacifico Aquaculture, where he oversees financing, operations and business development functions within the company.

Founded in 2010, Pacifico’s open ocean site is eight miles west of Ensenada, off the coast of Baja California, operating in the perfect location for responsible and sustainable aquaculture.

Pacifico Aquaculture focuses on staying at the forefront of environmental changes, ensuring that the farming process is as natural and pure as possible, providing the highest quality fish available. The suppliers, such as feed producers, that Pacifico Aquaculture work with are also like minded, sharing the same sustainability strategies that help to reduce the impact of feed production on the environment.

With 179 hectares of open ocean, Pacifico Aquaculture are one of the most successful operators in Ensenada. The location of the business also allows easy access to markets with the key advantage of a lower carbon food print, with the main US market a short 70 miles away. This results in not only a longer shelf life for the fish but the added advantage of a lower carbon footprint due to shorter shipping distances.

Omar will be speaking during session five of the Offshore Mariculture Conference, and will be discussing the investment themes to be considered during the diligence process, including the strategy used to develop and grow Pacifico Aquaculture into an internationally recognised aquaculture producer.

The Offshore Mariculture Conference offers all businesses involved in the fish farming supply chain a unique opportunity to connect with key decision makers and gain invaluable insight during the technical seminars and visits.
