Fish Waste for Profit conference 2019 will be the 3rd edition of the Icelandic Fisheries Conference, which will run separately to the IceFish Exhibition for the first time.

Estimates reveal that 43% of fish and shellfish resources end up as wastage, which represents a significant amount of potential profit that could be generated from otherwise discarded material. Fish processing by-products are full of potentially valuable oils that can be used in foods, as well as high value products for non-food sectors such as biodiesel, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

The Fish Waste for Profit conference offers delegates the opportunity to increase their knowledge on maximising return on investment from fish processing by-products. With gross catch tonnage on the decline and ever-increasing costs, it is more important than ever for the industry to minimise wastage and utilise opportunities to earn extra revenue.

Iceland has been chosen once again as the location of Fish Waste for Profit, not only due to its close links with the Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition, but also because Iceland is home to many of the pioneers paving the way in the waste reutilisation industry.

Previously, the Fish Waste for Profit conference has attracted delegates from across Europe and North America, with over 50% of attendees holding senior positions within their associated companies.

This is a must attend event for owners and CEOs from the fishing, aquaculture and processing sectors, as well as those in the associated supply chain looking to discover new innovations and industry insights, and to develop relations with key industry stakeholders.
