Veramaris has teamed up with the World Ocean Council in producing a film highlighting the feed company’s work to create an alternative source of Omega-3.
The partnership, announced on World Oceans Day, will create content for the Ocean Titans docuseries, a sequence of films promoted through news agency Reuters featuring analysis from UN representatives, policy leaders, industry and academia.

Containing footage from inside the new Veramaris facility in Blair, Nebraska, the episode reveals how algal oil is produced and features testimonials from two of the company’s Norwegian partners – Skretting and Grieg Seafood.
“Our customers are embracing algal oil not only because there isn’t enough fish oil, but also because it’s a reliable and certified sustainable Omega-3 solution for aquafeed,” explained Gertjan de Koning, chief executive of Veramaris.
“We’re now turning our attention to increasing production, while advancing product quality and operational efficiency,” he added.
Skretting chief executive Therese Log Bergjord appears in the film, highlighting how such partnerships ‘connect the dots across the value chain’ and the need for sustainable, responsible growth in the aquaculture industry.
Grieg Seafood director of feed and nutrition Tor Eirik Homme explained how nutrition helps to make the fish as robust as possible and that ‘the most important part of the Omega-3 is the DHA and EPA’.
