“It’s rare to have a job where you get to see the results of your work grow in front of you, from tiny eggs into fit, healthy adult salmon,” said Hazel.

“I’m thrilled to take on this role and to work with our dedicated farm teams to care for our salmon in this beautiful environment.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to expand Loch Duart’s reputation for raising world-class salmon.”

Loch Duart is one of the last independent, non-multinational fish farming companies in Scotland. Its small scale, low impact farms are based in remote communities, producing 6,000 tonnes of salmon each year from its sites in Sutherland and the Outer Hebrides.

The company employs 160 people in the Western Isles, Sutherland and Ross and Cromarty and its salmon has featured on the menus at Glasgow COP26 2021, the Commonwealth Games 2022 and Wimbledon 2022.

“To have someone with Hazel’s experience and passion leading our farm operations gives me great confidence for our plans to ensure even more people can enjoy our unrivalled Loch Duart salmon in the future,” said managing director, Mark Warrington.
