Commission investigates Spanish aid
The European Commission has voiced its concern over a request for aid for Spanish aquaculture processing company, Ultracongelados Antartidá.
The request was made in order for the company – a part of the Pescanova fishing group – to update its processing facilities. The European Commission has opened an investigation into the compatibility of this type of aid with the internal market, especially when large companies are concerned.
The Commission is also concerned whether the proposed public aid will act as an incentive to the company to make an investment beyond what it would otherwise have done in the absence of State aid.
Spain and all interested parties are invited to provide comments.
