Bogdan Vornicu will introduce a roadmap – the Avascope signal fusion system – at conference.

Offshore aquaculture farms have moved into a new era with a wealth of environmental data and information now readily available.
However, as the Aquaculture – Driving Sustainable Growth Conference will hear, at least one question requires an answer: How do we consistently turn environmental signals into better operational decisions?
One speaker offering a solution is Bogdan Vornicu, Senior Biologist & Aquaculture Risk Specialist at Avascope. His presentation – Turning Environmental Signals into Biological Risk Decisions – will introduce the Avascope which uses ‘signal fusion’ to integrate multiple sources of information, including satellite-derived indicators, water-column measurements, environmental conditions, and biological observations.
As Vornicu outlines in his presentation synopsis: “The challenge is no longer collecting data. It is knowing what matters, when to act, and how confident we should be in taking action. The objective is not simply to detect change, but to understand its biological significance and translate that understanding into consistent operational responses.”
Avascope is designed to provide a practical methodology for transforming fragmented environmental observations into a structured biological risk management capability, which is increasingly becoming a prerequisite for resilient and profitable offshore aquaculture operations.
Vornicu adds that the presentation also introduces a practical Biological Risk Assessment that organizations can use to evaluate their current monitoring capabilities, decision processes, available data, and operational readiness. This assessment provides a structured starting point for developing a progressively more mature biological risk management capability.
