New Aquaculture event alongside 100% Fish for Profit opens a networking door.
The conference sessions running alongside IceFish have long provided an invaluable forum for the exchange of information, innovation and hard-won insights.
With the addition of the one-day Aquaculture –Driving Sustainable Growth conference – immediately preceding two full days of 100% Fish for Profit – the 15th edition of IceFish from 22-24 September will deliver a 50% greater opportunity to meet key industry stakeholders and build new connections in the rapidly evolving global aquaculture sector.
As ever the range of attendees is broad and varied, from 100% Accelerator and AB Enzymes GmbH to Trident Seafoods Corporation and Wageningen University & Research, bookending the list of 43 organisations and companies taking part.
The all-new Aquaculture conference will bring Iceland’s leading aquaculture operators and innovators together with the international experts also shaping the future of the sector.
Among them will be Ólöf Helga Jónsdóttir, who is not only Chair of the conference but also a Board Member of the Iceland Aquaculture and Ocean Forum (IAOF), and CPO of Kaldvik, the only fisheries company operating in the rugged east of Iceland.
Following on, the 100% Fish for Profit conference will continue its quest to unlock value from every part of the catch, transforming the entire fish into high-value products across a range of markets.
It also has a strong international presence alongside the Icelandic expertise, including David Naftzger, executive director for the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Governors & Premiers, a partnership that combines the efforts of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Québec, and Wisconsin to grow the region’s $6 trillion economy and protect their world-class environment.
Meanwhile Greenland’s largest company, Royal Greenland A/S, will be represented by Director Kristian S. Ottesen who plays a pivotal role in unlocking the potential of unexplored side streams from traditional seafood production. His mission is to transform these overlooked resources into high-value products, enabling full utilization and redefining the industry’s sustainability standards.
Also speaking at the conference, and in collaboration with Royal Greenland A/S, is Pernille Bak Post. A PhD Student at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), she is focused on improving the utilization of side streams from the production of peeled Northern shrimp, with particular emphasis on recovering valuable nutrients from their shells for use in aquaculture feed.
