The keynote panel for the “Aquaculture - Driving Sustainable Growth” conference will focus on Blue Food Futures, Policy Partnerships and Global Growth. 

Egill Þorri Steingrimsson, Director for Coordination, MAST-Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority will open the session with a discussion on how the future of blue food depends on building growth through trust.   

His presentation will argue that effective policy, strong official oversight, and credible standards in food safety, animal health and welfare are not barriers to growth, but essential foundations for sustainable expansion and international market access. 

Addressing the international delegates at the conference he will draw on Iceland’s experience to highlight the importance of partnership across government, regulators, science and industry to ensure that blue food develops in a way that is safe, responsible and globally competitive.  

Clara Jegousse, Data Analyst at the Iceland Ocean Cluster will offer the latest insights from the Cluster, assessing what the numbers say about global aquaculture: trends and growth by country and species, volumes and value, and why solid data matters.

Kevin S. Edwards, Vice President, Global Market Development at Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability (GDST) will talk about seafood tracing and collaboration. 

He will cover the GDST seafood traceability standard, and demonstrate how governments, supply chain organisations, technology providers, NGOs and international buyers collaborate to increase market readiness, efficient tradem trust, resiliency and sustainability.
