Icelandic seafood company, Valka, has appointed a new head of its rapidly growing global service division.

For the past nine years Sigríður Olgeirsdóttir has been the chief operating officer at Íslandsbanki where she was responsible for IT and operations. She has also served on numerous boards of directors both in Iceland and abroad and been the chief executive of Ax Business Intelligence, Humac, and Tæknival, the latter of which she founded.

"We are extremely pleased to have such an experienced executive as Sigríður joining us," said Valka's chief executive, Helgi Hjalmarsson.

"Her experience from the software sector, the financial sector and as a manager will benefit us well in our diverse operations around the world.

"The company's growth has been rapid in recent years and Sigríður‘s hiring is in line with that growth. The service we provide to our customers around the world is a key element in all our operations and therefore it is a great asset for us to have Sigríður in our team.“

Sigríður is a systems engineer from Tigentskolen in Odense, Denmark. She as an MBA degree from the University of Reykjavik, an AMP from the Harvard Business School and a degree in business and business studies from the University of Iceland's Continuing Education.
