Marport, a marine technology company that designs and manufactures a comprehensive range of acoustic sensing, processing and communications products, announced in early August that it has been selected as the supplier of complete trawl monitoring and net sounder systems for the fresh fish trawlers “Bergur Huginn” NB44 and “Gjogur” NB45.

The “Bergur Huginn” NB44 and “Gjogur” NB45 are among the first in a new generation of deep sea fresh fish trawlers. The vessels are scheduled for construction during 2006 at a Polish shipyard with delivery and commissioning scheduled for early 2007.
Both vessels will be equipped with Marport’s SmartCatchTM catch control system, the SmartBridgeTM acoustic receiver bridge equipment as well as Marport’s Trawl ExplorerTM digital net sounder.
Oskar Axelsson, Marport Executive Vice President, said, “We are very pleased to have been awarded these contracts. Providing robust and compatible products that offer real value to the deep sea fishing industry has long been a hallmark of Marport. This important win allows Marport to continue this tradition and positions Marport as a premier provider of next generation of underwater acoustic products.”
Magnus Kristinsson, owner of the Bergur-Huginn trawler company said, “This contract continues the relationship we have had with Marport since 1996. We look forward to enhancing our deep sea fishing operations with their state-of-the-art acoustic technologies and products.”
