The Espersen Group processing site in Lithuania is the first to use Dybvad Stål Industri’s (DSI) horizontal HKS 38/20, with auto filling and unloading.

Three HS 34 have been installed onboard Tuugaalik

The company has been using the machine for three months now, with reported success. The capacity of the HKS 38 with 20 stations exceeds what is needed, and Espersen freezes the fish in small packages. Benefits of the machine include continuous freezing and drip loss prevention, which increases food quality.

The first trawler to install the freezer onboard is the Greenlandic Tuugaalik – the vessel has opted for three HS 34 with 14 stations each. DSI has been adjusting the freezers onboard and says it will continue to do so until operation is perfect.

Working conditions are said to be better onboard, thanks to the automation provided by the freezers.

Finally, the new Havstrand, of Ålesund in Norway has started fishing with eight new V16 plate freezers onboard.

Feedback from the trawler is that crew are satisfied that the 32 stations can be unloaded in only 3-7 minutes. Sister trawler Havbryn also carries DSI V3 freezers onboard.
