Turkey’s Tersan Shipyard Inc has launched NB1102 – soon to be named Gadus; an arctic freezer trawler built for P/F JFK Trol from the Faroe Islands.

“We are pleased and proud to have the chance to work together with P/F JFK for this significant project,” Tersan Chairman Osman Nurettin Paksu said. “The effectiveness date of the project was the beginning of the COVID pandemic and this project provided us a separate source of motivation, strength and happiness. For this reason, she has a special importance for us.”
Gadus is the second trawler that Tersan has launched for Faroese owners in the last two months.
At 88.1 metres long and 18.3 metres wide, the new fishing vessel will be an advanced, technologically sophisticated factory trawler capable for triple trawling. It will be outfitted with a shrimp factory, an advanced fillet factory and a fishmeal and fish oil plant. In addition, there will be arrangements for freezing pelagic species onboard the vessel.
The Skipsteknisk-designed vessel will have accommodation for 43 people onboard with spacious and comfortable living places.
Capable for efficiently trawling in icy and arctic waters, Gadus is scheduled to be delivered in the last quarter of 2022.
