Zamakona Yards has received an order from Intership in Norway for a new wellboat to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The 76m by 17m wellboat will be built at the facilities of Zamakona in Bilbao, Spain, based on a design by Salt Ship Design. Fish welfare, fish handling and biosecurity are the key priorities.
The chairman of Zamakona, Pedro Garaygordobil said the order strengthened the company’s position as a reputed wellboat builder. “The new contract with Intership is a great success for our company and allows keeping a strong order book for the next two year,” he said.
The 2,500m3 vessel will be equipped with energy recovery solutions and a large battery package to permit hybrid operation and is prepared for a considerably sized reverse osmosis systems. To avoid major depth restrictions the newbuild will have a low operational draught compared to its size.
With more than 41 years’ experience building and repairing all types of vessel, the Zamakona Yards Group has facilities in Santurtzi (Vizcaya), Pasajes (Guipúcoa) and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
