The Nor-Fishing Foundation''s Innovation Price has been awarded at the Nor-Fishing and Aqua Nor exhibitions in alternating years since 2003.
This year, a record 17 applications have been registered - twice as many as any time previously, according to Odd Berg, Director of the Nor-Fishing Foundation. Both Norwegian and foreign companies are among this year’s applicants.
The international financial crisis and the problems it has created with regard to financing research and development projects, makes the Nor-Fishing Innovation Prize even more important to the industry this year. Previous Prize winners state that the Prize has been a source of inspiration for the development work and has also been a great help in marketing.
The Innovation Prize is intended to encourage increased focus on innovation, rationalisation, quality assurance/improvement and enhanced profitability in the fishery and aquaculture industries.
The prize is NOK100,000 and a print by a renowned artist.
The Innovation Prize will be awarded during a short ceremony at the Rica Nidelven Hotel on Tuesday 18 August.
