Hege Charlotte Bakken has joined the board of directors at salmon-based ingredients producer Biomega Group as an independent director.

Based in The Netherlands, Bakken brings more than 20 years of experience from working across several areas of the marine value chain, including salmon farming, omega-3, and the protein ingredients industry. She is a Senior Advisor for Strategy and Management at Stella Polaris Netherlands. She is also Deputy Chair of the Board of Directors at Austevoll Seafood ASA, as well as a member of the board of directors at Avramar SL.

Previously, Bakken was on the board of directors at Leroy Seafood Group ASA for 10 years and Pronova Biopharma ASA for five years.

“The opening of a new factory in Hirtshals and the launch of the patented SalMe Peptides, based on sustainable salmon proteins offers biomega unique possibilities. I am delighted to contribute to the company’s global expansion of SalMe Peptides within the fast growing high-value peptide ingredient market,” Bakken said.

Biomega upcycles salmon rest raw materials into food and pet food ingredients through accelerated biorefining by way of continuous enzymatic hydrolysis. It opened its Hirtshals, Denmark, biorefinery in December 2022.
