Non-profit partnership explains the need for science-based conservation and effective monitoring in the Indian Ocean
Ahead of the next annual Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) meeting (13-17 April 2025), the International Seafood Sustainability Foundation (ISSF) has prepared an article on the actions needed to advance the IOTC’s efforts for the long-term health of tuna stocks and the broader marine ecosystem. The editorial, in its entirety below, urges the IOTC to implement science-based catch limits, enhance compliance and monitoring and adopt stronger conservation measures for by-catch species.
