Information about technical visits
The 7th Offshore Mariculture Conference takes place on 6-10 March 2017 in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. Find out more about the technical visits, spread over one and a half days.
The global aquaculture industry continues to be the fastest growing animal food producing sector, accounting for around half of all fish consumed in the world today. With the burgeoning American market on its doorstep, Mexico has a unique opportunity to meet the growing demand in the region for fish and seafood, making Offshore Mariculture Mexico a must attend event for those looking to set up or expand into this constantly evolving industry.
The conference offers one and a half days of technical visits to hatcheries, research laboratories, processing plants and offshore farms in the Ensenada region. Focussing on a tuna ranching farm, striped bass farm and a yellow-tail facility, along with a visit to Abalone farm. The technical visits offer a fantastic opportunity for delegates to experience working fish farms on and offshore in this developing region.
Schedule for technical visits
Thursday 9th – Afternoon visit to processing and hatchery facilities: This will consist of a half day of technical visits to Tuna and Striped Bass processing plants in Ensenada, taking place in the afternoon commencing after the half day of presentations.
Friday 10th – Choice of two technical visits:
Option 1 – Sea Tour: This technical visit consists of a boat trip to view various offshore facilities including a tuna ranching farm, a striped bass farm and a yellow-tail facility.
Option 2 – Land Tour: This technical visit will consist of a trip to the Ocean Baja Labs Hatchery, connected to Baja Seas Yellowtail farm, where participants will be able to view the different stages of the fish culture process. The second part of the visit will be a trip to an Abalone farm in the same area.
