Iceland Ocean Cluster’s CEO happy to share some of the keys to success.

Given its groundbreaking innovation and dynamic role, it is little surprise that the Iceland Ocean Cluster will once again be front and centre at the Icefish 2026 100% Fish for Profit Conference in September.
As will its CEO Dr. Alexandra Leeper, not only as co-Chair of the two-day conference, 23-24 September, but also as a panellist on the opening Keynote Panel Global Partnerships for a Global Seafood Challenge, and the first speaker on the second of the day’s Sessions – Blueprints for Success: What is Transferable to Other Companies and Ecosystems.
Already a familiar presence at the biennial industry-leading IceFish conferences and exhibition event in Reykjavik, Dr. Leeper is a champion of the blue economy, helping companies and regions redesign how they use their resources, so value is created rather than wasted.
Originally from the UK, she and the Iceland Ocean Cluster have pioneered the 100% Fish model, a globally referenced case for full-value utilization in seafood, and are now supporting the adaptation and transfer of this model around the world along with a growing network of Global Sister Ocean Clusters.
In a recent interview she said: “What is driving our work now, is learning how we can adapt and apply the core steps that has made 100% Fish so successful in Iceland to seafood contexts around the world.”
And in a neat summary of part of the Iceland Ocean Cluster’s mission, Dr. Leeper added: “One big part of this success has been the identification of mutual challenges that members and seafood companies share, that are perhaps not part of the core business, but in fact a common pain point – so called, pre-competitive challenges – reducing loss and waste from processing is one such pre-competitive challenge that companies can benefit from collaboration over competition for mutual economic and environmental gain.”
