Patrick Lavens

Patrick has a PhD in Applied Biological Sciences and a MSc in Biology from the University of Ghent. He stayed as researcher and also Guest Professor in Aquaculture with the Lab of Aquaculture, University of Ghent for 20y. Afterwards, Patrick joined INVE in 1999 and has since fulfilled a number of roles within company including Technical-Commercial Manager for Europe and Business Unit Manager Health. He has been Innovations Director since 2010 responsible for R&D, new business and product development. End 2017 he took up a position within Strategy Execution & Business Growth in the corporate structure of Benchmark plc, who acquired INVE Aquaculture end 2015.

In addition Patrick:

  • has (co-)authored of over 100 articles and books related to aquaculture
  • has (co-)organized aquaculture conferences and workshops
  • served as president of the European Aquaculture Society from 1986 to 1988
  • is chairman of the EATiP thematic area ‘Managing the Biological Life Cycle’
