At WFE 2009, Furuno España introduced a variety of new products to the fishing industry, including:

• New radar series - models M-1835/1935/1945

• New echosounders - models FCV-295 and FCV-1150

• New satellite communication terminal via Inmarsat Fleet Broadband - FELCOM-500 and FELCOM-250

Furuno's new radar series, 1835/1935/1945, is a high contrast 10.4" colour LCD radar designed for a wide range of vessels and offers crystal clear target presentation with automatic gain, sea and rain controls to deliver a noise-free radar presentation.

It features detection of small targets at both short and long ranges. It also incorporates new display modes assist with safe navigation. The series allows the skipper to see far away objects before they are visible and allows him to see in the dark, fog or during periods of obstructed visibility in any weather condition.

The FCV-295 is a colour digital sounder featuring a bonded ‘fogging-free’ 10.4" LCD display. The skipper can display echoes in 8, 16, or 64 colours, with colour assignment dependent on the strength of the returned echo.

The FCV-1150 is another colour digital sounder, this one featuring a high-brightness bonded 12.1" LCD display with AR-coated glass filter and anti-polarised sunglass filter.

Furuno’s Inmarsat FleetBroadband, FELCOM 250 and FELCOM 500 are said to deliver a faster, more cost-effective solution to maritime broadband data and voice communications on a global basis. Once installed, FleetBroadband is claimed to turn a ship into a broadband floating office where constant, simultaneous access to voice and multiple high-speed data services are available, transforming access to data at sea.
