Icelandic energy management system company Marorka lunched its latest, second generation of Maren. - Maren 2 is a complete system based on advanced mathematical methods and algorithms allowing unsurpassed energy management. The company says that the system maximises energy efficentcy, minimizes negative environmental impact and cut costs.
Maren 2 is loaded with new features that, according to Marorka, “revolutionize the energy management on board ocean vessels.” It also claims that the effective use of Maren has resulted in significant fuel savings for ships currently in operation and increased awareness of conservation issues.
The new system was unveiled by the Icelandic Prime Minister Halldór Ásgrímsson at the Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition.
Managing director of Marorka, Jon Agust Thorsteinsson said that Maren 2, which they started to develop two years ago, had much more attention at the show than expected: “This is a complete new system. All the big companies and owners are coming here and also sending their people to see it. At the time of such a high fuel costs and the necessity of look after the environment, this system is really important.”
He also said that Maren 2 is tailored for each vessel and that the pay back time is between one and two years.
