Ocean Safety is reminding English and Welsh commercial fisherman that nearly 7000 lifejackets are due for a service in the next few months.

The company specialises in the worldwide supply, distribution, service and hire of marine safety equipment and said at least two lives have been saved in past year by fishermen wearing the Mullion Compact PFD (personal flotation device).
“It is important that we remind the thousands of people who are working at sea about the importance of getting their lifejackets serviced, and in good time,” said Charlie Mills of Ocean Safety.
“The Mullion PFDs should be serviced at an approved service station to ensure that they function correctly.”
As part of a Fishing Industry Safety Group (FISG) initiative which aimed to drive up safety standards, the Mullion PFDs were provided free to every commercial fisherman with funding from the European Fisheries Fund (EFF).
Lifejackets can be dropped off at any of the four Ocean Safety branches in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Plymouth or Southampton. A full list of location details is available on the Ocean Safety website.
