Kosher food supplier the Manischewitz Company has successfully undergone a Friend of the Sea audit and the company’s anchovies, sardines and mackerel products can now carry the FOS seal of approval.
The status of the stocks of anchovies, sardines and mackerel sourced by Manischewitz are verified periodically by the Agriculture and Fishery Ministry and are found to be not overexploited (FAO AREA 34). Purse seine fishing does not impact the seabed and it is very selective.
Fishing gears comply with local regulations, for both net and mesh size and the fishing activity respects Marine Protected Areas.
Manischewitz is America's largest manufacturer of processed kosher food products.
