Director for Coordination, MAST - Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority

Egill Steingrímsson is Director for Coordination at MAST, the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority, and a veterinarian with broad experience across both the private and public sectors. His career has combined operational veterinary practice, regulatory leadership and international cooperation in the fields of animal health, food and feed safety, and official controls. He has worked at the EFTA Surveillance Authority, served as Chief Veterinary Officer in Greenland, and held a leadership role at the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet), where he was responsible for a department overseeing food and feed safety. This combination of national and international experience gives him a strong perspective on how effective regulation, cross-border cooperation and competent authorities can support both public trust and sustainable growth.
