Business Innovation Specialist - Local Ocean Seafoods’ 100% Fish Initiative (Newport, Oregon, USA).
As one of the founding businesses of the Oregon Ocean Cluster in 2024, Local Ocean Seafoods has been an outsized contributor to the groundswell movement envisioning the Blue Economy future in its region. In 2025, Darlene’s work for Local Ocean was selected for Positively Groundfish’s Catch+Create Accelerator, a competitive program launching novel seafood products and commercialization strategies for underutilized fisheries. To launch these products, Darlene has secured over $100k in support for Local Ocean’s 100% Fish work to date.
Outside of her day job, Darlene is currently pursuing an MBA focused on sustainability and circular value chains. Originally trained as a marine ecologist, she brings a unique combination of scrappy business acumen and big-picture systems thinking to her projects. In addition to her role at Local Ocean, Darlene is founder of Good Measure Consulting, where she advises food and beverage businesses on profitability, merchandising, waste reduction, operational strategy, and sustainable growth.
