Manager as Scottish Ocean Cluster

Tracy White - Scottish Ocean Cluster

Dr Tracy White is a marine scientist and innovation advocate with extensive experience across the marine biotechnology and blue economy sectors. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about realising the untapped potential of marine‑derived products and translating scientific insight into commercially viable, sustainable solutions.

As the first employee of the Scottish Ocean Cluster, she supports collaboration across industry, research, academia and government to accelerate value‑maximising, resilient models for seafood, fisheries and aquaculture.

Prior to joining the Scottish Ocean Cluster, Tracy worked within commercial biotechnology leading the novel extraction of high‑value biopolymers from shellfish by‑products. There, she operated at the interface of research, scale‑up and commercial application, helping to demonstrate how marine by‑products can be transformed into valuable materials for global markets.

Tracy studied at the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) and the School of Pharmacy at Queen’s University Belfast, where she completed her doctorate. Her work consistently focuses on marine derived products and cross‑sector innovation, with an emphasis on moving beyond “business as usual” to unlock new value from existing resources.

She is committed to enabling collaborative solutions that deliver environmental sustainability alongside long‑term economic resilience for coastal and marine industries.
