The European fishmeal and fish oil industry is in the lead in terms of sustainability, traceability, production processes and high-quality products, and EUfishmeal, the association representing the European producers of fishmeal and fish oil, is currently hosting its biennial conference.

The conference is taking place in the Faroe Islands and this year more than 120 participants ranging from producers and specialists, to marine scientists and manufacturers of industry equipment have travelled to Tórshavn to take part.
The conference was kicked off Wednesday with a field excursion to experience the entire value-chain of the Faroese salmon production, from fishmeal to feed production, to a hatchery, a visit to sea cages and to Bakkafrost, where the salmon steaks demanded by consumers are made ready for the supermarket.
The conference is focusing on subjects such as quality parameters of fishmeal and fish oil, the most recent research of fisheries science and management, aquaculture and control regulations as well as showcases of the newest industry equipment used in the production.
The conference will close today with the EUfishmeal annual general meeting.
