Buckie-based Associated Seafoods Ltd (ASL) has won two awards at the North East Scotland Food and Drink Awards 2019 in recognition of the company’s investment in its staff and the wider community, as well as the success of its Scottish smoked salmon.

ASL won the ‘Investing in Skills Development’ award thanks to its training and development programmes and the ‘Export Business of the Year’ category following another year of sustained growth in key global markets.
Victor West, managing director of ASL, said: “We are thrilled to have won both these awards, which underlines our commitment to invest in our staff and the younger local community, as well as providing recognition of our track record in growing our export markets for premium Scottish smoked salmon.
“Our talented workforce is the bedrock behind the success of ASL, and these awards are a deserving tribute of the vital role they play in our continuing growth.”
The company is also an active participant in the ‘Developing the Young Workforce’ initiative to ensure young people are fully supported into employment by bridging the gap between education and employers. Furthermore, ASL supports the ‘Career Ready’ scheme, which offers senior school pupils the opportunity to learn about work and prepare them for life in the workplace.
