Alessandro Lovatelli is confirmed as the Offshore Mariculture Conference 2014 chairman and brings over 25 years of aquaculture industry experience to the event.
An oceanographer and a marine aquaculturist, Mr Lovatelli first got involved with the aquaculture industry back in 1985 when he was recruited by an Italian company as a clam hatchery and farming biologist. Over the past couple of decades Mr Lovatelli headed numerous projects throughout the globe with long assignments in Thailand, Mexico, Viet Nam and Somalia with a number of international development agencies. Currently his main activities with the Food Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) are focused on marine/offshore aquaculture development, transfer of farming technologies and resources management.
